Michelle Jones used the Newton shoes to run a winning marathon at the Kona Ironman world champs.

What is so special about the Newtons?

Newton Running Shoes were invented to take advantage of our natural gait and enhance the biomechanics of our footfall and propulsion. The shoe features active membrane technology with replaces the foam and plastic of traditional running shoes and promotes forefoot running. The membrane is layered between four midsole actuators and four hollow chambers. On impact these actuators stretch the membrane as they drive into the chambers in the sole. The actuators absorb more shock than traditional running shoes, creating an enhanced cushioned feel. During the toe off phase of a runner’s stride the membrane thrusts the actuators back out of the chambers returning the impact energy into forward propulsion.

Newton shoes have a unique feel as soon as you put them on- they are lightweight, breathable, comfortable, highly cushioned yet stable and responsive. While running in Newton shoes you should feel the actuator lugs below your forefoot and your foot will sense the ground faster encouraging you to strike the ground with your mid foot/forefoot. If you are already run with a forefoot strike you will notice that you are on and off the ground quicker with less impact and greater forward propulsion. You will run faster with less effort and less recovery time than with traditional shoes.

What is forefoot running?

To discover your best running form all you need to do is run barefoot and you’ll immediately see that you’re not landing on your heels. Instead you’re striking on your forefoot which is the most natural, efficient, ergonomically sound , safest and fastest way to run.

What are the benefits to me?

You will feel a very lightweight shoe with increased comfort (you can run sockless in these for very long distances!!) and cushioning. Once you are forefoot striking the shoes will last over 1000km so are suitable for all training and racing needs.
• You will run with better form which often means fewer or no running injuries
• You will be faster as these shoes are light and provide energy return every stride
• Improved cushioning means less muscle damage on long runs or runs on hard surfaces. You will train better tomorrow
